Jacob Chapter 3

3:1"...pray unto him with exceeding faith, and he will console you in your afflictions..."
I know we all love to be comforted and have that help during our afflictions...and if we do exercise our faith by praying to God, we will receive that comfort that we need.

3:1-2"...behold, I, Jacob, would speak unto you that are pure in heart. Look unto God..."
Even if you are pure in heart, there's more that needs to be done.  We need to continually look unto God, pray with great faith, and receive the pleasing word of God.  This will bring consolation in our afflictions, and have our cause be plead in our behalf, as well as justice and His love.
Those are all things that I would really like.  I need to keep the commandments, then...following what it says above.

3:9"...a commandment I give unto you, which is the word of God, that ye revile no more against them because of the darkness of their skins; neither shall ye revile against them because of their filthiness; but ye shall remember your own filthiness, and remember that their filthiness came because of their fathers..."
If we ever have the temptation to be racist for any reason, we should remember this commandment.  So what if people have a different skin color?  It doesn't matter!  We should be more worried about our sin than their skin.  We should be helping each one of our brothers and sisters all that we can, no matter their gender, age, race, abilities, etc.

3:11"..that ye may not become angels to the devil...."
This is an interesting phrase, considering that if we follow the devil's plan, the best we can become are angels (to the devil).  If we follow Heavenly Father's plan, we can become Gods.  You have the tendency to become what you emulate and worship.
