3 Nephi Chapter 4

4:10 - "...the Nephites did not fear them; but they did fear their God and did supplicate him for protection..."
The Nephites feared God more than the robbers.
We must fear God more than men, for then we will not be defeated physically, mentally, or spiritually.

4:30-33 - "...And their hearts were swollen with joy, unto the gushing out of many tears, because of the great goodness of God in delivering them out of the hands of their enemies; and they knew it was because of their repentance and their humility that they had been delivered from an everlasting destruction..."
The Nephites had a great victory because they trusted the Lord and did not lean upon their own understanding.
They waited for the robbers to come - and fought behind the fortifications they knew well.
We must stay in our own spiritual forts, and we will be able to withstand the attacks of the Devil (3 Nephi 3:20-21).

4:33 - "...And their hearts were swollen with joy, unto the gushing out of many tears, because of the great goodness of God in delivering them out of the hands of their enemies; and they knew it was because of their repentance and their humility that they had been delivered from an everlasting destruction..."
Their faith, humility, and repentance saved them.  If we want to be saved temporally and spiritually, we must do and develop these same attributes.
